Apple Reportedly Interviewing Job Candidates for Mobile Payments Push

Apple Inc. (AAPL) is drifting lower after hours after closing up 1.2% during Monday’s regular trading amid buzz it has renewed efforts for a mobile payments feature.

The company has been interviewing senior payments industry executives to push ahead on a plan to build an electronic payments business, tech news site Re/Code reports, citing two people familiar with the process.

The company has been meeting with potential applicants for two new positions at Apple focused exclusively on building a business around the hundreds of millions of credit cards it already has on file. Apple is seeking to fill head of product and head of business development positions, one of these people said, according to Re/Code.

AAPL ranges between $388.87 and $575.14 over the past 52 weeks.
